I was struck by this passage. “On an occasion when Jesus was moving through an area, a large crowd formed and "Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone”" (Luke 6:19). I can imagine the scene – people desperately trying to touch Jesus in order to be healed. On another occasion, a woman who had been sick for many years came up behind Jesus in a crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed" – and she was instantly healed (Mark 5:27-28). "And wherever he went – into villages, towns or countryside – they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed" (Mark 6:56). While Jesus healed many without touching them, even while not being in the same location, there is something personal about touch. It involves coming to Jesus, into his presence, and in faith reaching out. He still heals and cares. "Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). (Craig B).
