We had some smallish trees we had bought for our garden. While they weren’t tiny, they still had a long way to grow before they could be considered trees. However, while they were planted with love and care, they faced a foe they weren’t ready for yet, the wind. Soon they were bent and nearly horizontal. The solution was to secure them to a wooden stake driven into the ground. Now, even though the wind blows them with the same force, the trees remain upright. We are all like these saplings, trying to grow in a world where the winds of change and worry and pain hurl themselves against us. If we don’t have something that keeps us secure, we soon find ourselves bent under the strain. However, what do we tie ourselves to? Whatever it is needs to be secure so that it too does not shift in the onslaught. Jesus is the stake driven into the ground that, if we anchor ourselves to him, our world will not move. He gives us hope in this life and the life to come. “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” (Hebrews 6:19). Today, whatever is happening in your life, take a moment to make sure you are tied to Jesus. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Heb6v19
