The wrong reflection

The wrong reflection

I was watching a bird flapping and flying furiously to keep others away from a pile of seed. Once the birds had flown off, he turned his attention to his reflection in a window. The reflection bird wouldn’t back down, so he kept attacking it, over and over, until, finally exhausted, he flew away. It’s easy to laugh at the foolishness, but how often are we just like that bird? We waste our energy chasing reflections: people in our social media feeds, influencers living the “dream,” the guy at the gym lifting more than us. We keep flapping at illusions. Solomon warned us not to live like this: “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 1:14). Still we persist, exhausting ourselves. But there is a reflection worth chasing – Jesus. “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory…” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Look at Him, not them. Whose reflection will you spend more time looking at today? (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Ecc1v14, https://bit.ly/2Co3v18
