What are you hiding that belongs to God? There is a story in Joshua where the nation of Israel is defeated in a battle by a small enemy. They can’t understand why this happened, and God says – “Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the LORD. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you.” (Joshua 7:13). Someone had taken an item from a previous victory that was to be dedicated to God and kept it for themself. This single act caused the whole nation to suffer defeat. We all have been entrusted with things that belong to God. He gives us our money, our time, our life. What do we do with these? Have you hidden your money in a bank account? Is your time all for yourself and your pursuits? It’s only when we see all that we have as holy and given by God that everything changes. We must give to God the first of our money, the first of our time, the first of our energy. And then, the battles we face in life will be won by him.
