The Alpha and Omega

The Alpha and Omega

In our human experience, bound by time, we recognise pioneers who begin things and finishers who complete them. But no one is both the start and the end. That category does not exist for us. Yet this is precisely the title Jesus takes in Revelation: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” (Revelation 22:13). “Alpha and Omega” is a meaning claim. Letters form words. In Genesis, God creates through speech. Jesus is not merely spoken about by God, He is God’s speech – the Word made flesh. “First and Last” is an authority claim. Jesus holds ultimate authority, the once-for-all answer to sin, with no rival. “Beginning and End” is a chronological claim. Jesus is where everything comes from and where everything is going. All things were created through Him and for Him. Meaning, authority, and time belong to Him. Nothing precedes Him, nothing outranks Him, and nothing outlasts Him. Consider this: If Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, where are you creating your own meaning? If He is the First and Last, whose approval outranks His authority? If He is the Beginning and the End, where are you forcing outcomes instead of trusting Him? (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Rev22v13
