Sign or Saviour

Sign or Saviour

Finding myself in a shopping mall and needing the toilet, I headed toward a sign I saw on the level above. Arriving on that level, I turned left toward the sign—only to notice it actually pointed right, back the way I had come. I had been so focused on reaching the sign that I hadn’t looked carefully at where it was pointing. It made me wonder how often this has been my attitude to the greatest signpost of all—the Bible. The Bible is full of direction, but are we so focused on the signbook that we don’t heed the direction it points? “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life” (John 5:39–40). Reading God’s Word is vital, but in our reading we must come to where it points—Jesus. He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14) and he wants to live in you and transform you. Don’t just stare at the sign. Follow it. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Joh5v39-40, https://bit.ly/joh1v14 (Craig B)
