Proverbs 17:3 states, “Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart.” Each and every day, we are being tested, from the moment we wake up to the moment we fall asleep. We are being thrown into a fire, a furnace. Anything that is fake, plastic, and not pure gets consumed by the fire. So the Lord throws us into the fire so that our own hearts get burnt because of the impurities, and we develop a heart like Christ, which is pure. Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things and desperately wicked.” So, as the Lord throws you into the fire today or tomorrow, let us lose ourselves and become more like Christ. It is the tool God uses: the furnace of affliction to test our faith, the furnace of temptation to measure obedience, and the furnace of prosperity to measure humility. So let us wear the full armour of God so that when we are tested, we can stand tall and strong, as the Lord our God is with us.
