I was visiting a mall recently and, like many malls and shops, there were automatic doors. As soon as we got close, the doors opened to let us in. We are so used to this that we barely give it a second thought. But did you know that the first automatic opening doors are mentioned over 2000 years ago? After the apostle Peter was miraculously freed from prison by an angel, we read, “They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him” (Acts 12:10). The massive iron city gates simply opened to let Peter through so he could reach his fellow disciples. How often in life do seemingly impossible iron gates open for us too? Maybe it was an unexpected deal, a sudden job offer, restored relationships, last-minute provision, long-awaited clarity, access to the right people, or courage where fear once blocked the way. Yet so often we move on without stopping to marvel and give praise to God, forgetting that without Him the doors would never have opened. Whatever iron gates seem to block your path, remember that God has been opening them for millennia. Trust Him. He still works His miracles every single day. (Craig B) Open Bible – bit.ly/Act12v10
