“The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters” (Genesis 1:2). This can often be the picture of our lives—formless and empty, without direction, and filled with a darkness of fears, stress, and worries. But the verse continues: “And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters” (Genesis 1:2). Even in our darkest moments, the Spirit of God is always present. “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him” (2 Chronicles 16:9). God does not want our lives to remain formless and empty. He seeks to flood our darkness with His light so we can know Him and experience His glory. “For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6). If your life feels dark, empty, or without purpose, turn your heart fully to your Heavenly Father. Let His guiding light fill your life with His glory, peace, and direction.
