AI sacrifice

AI sacrifice

The world recently changed in a significant way. Artificial Intelligence (AI) burst onto the scene with its incredible ability to create content. “Circuits and code, no heart to feel, AI writes poems with digital zeal.” All of a sudden, poems like this, written by AI, can be instantly created. However, despite the ease with which AI creates poems and other content, something is missing. When an artist labours on a painting or a poet on a poem, or a chef on a meal, there is something of them in their creation. It’s as though a part of them is sacrificed in the making. Anything of real value is the result of sacrifice, from mom’s home-cooked meal to a degree earned after years of study. And so when God decided to create the greatest work of art ever – our universe and us in it, he already knew he would also make the greatest sacrifice ever. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). And so, if we want to truly experience what God is offering us, we too must make a sacrifice. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Romans 12:1). In our sacrifice we will experience the wonder of being part of God’s ultimate work of art – his eternal Kingdom.
