Gratitude in comparison

Gratitude in comparison

The Golden Rule is to not compare ourselves to others. But perhaps there is one time when comparison is helpful—when life feels hard and we’re tempted to complain. In that moment, compare yourself to someone who has it worse. The world is full of famine, poverty, and hardship, and many people face far more serious trials than we do. There will always be someone struggling more than you, and in that, we can realise how blessed we truly are. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” The very fact that you’re reading this on a phone means you’re doing better than millions around the globe. Even when things feel like they’re going wrong, we still have reasons to thank God. Someone, somewhere, would give anything for the life you’re living—even on your worst day. Gratitude shifts our focus. It doesn’t ignore pain, but it reminds us of perspective. So when life feels unfair, stop and thank God—not just for what’s going well, but for every hidden blessing you may have overlooked. Because gratitude doesn’t always come from having more. It often comes from realising just how much we already have. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/1Th5v18 (Jean-Luc H)
