God’s restaurant

God’s restaurant

I was fascinated when travelling around France how some of the words we use in English are the same in French. One of these is the word restaurant, which comes from the French word meaning “to restore”. A restaurant is meant to be a place where someone is restored. The food and comfort should nourish and refresh. Sadly, in today’s world of fast food and unhealthy choices, this idea is often lost. But it got me thinking about church in a new way. It’s God’s restaurant. A place designed for true restoration. God offers a divine menu in His Word, a feast that can restore us not just physically, but eternally. When Jesus was hungry in the wilderness, He said, “‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4). If you feel weary or empty, come to God’s table. Jesus invites us: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry” (John 6:35).
