God-pokes

God-pokes

I have the wonderful privilege of sharing these daily gospel bites. However, recently I found myself questioning if this was the best use of my time. Instead of writing “bites” every day maybe I should spend the time in Bible study, preparing less but more substantive Bible talks. Wouldn’t that be better? Minutes after pondering this, I received a WhatsApp from someone expressing how much she enjoyed the daily messages. Then I received an email from someone sharing a creative idea she wanted to do with the gospel bites messages. She spoke of “God-pokes,” a strong recurring feeling she had had to reach out and connect. I replied with how vital it is to listen to these feelings when our conscience is stirred or a thought enters our mind, often contrary to what we are thinking or want to do. This is God speaking to us. Yet, for a while, I missed God talking to me. Then I heard. Twice, while I was questioning the value of this work unexpected messages arrived. Wow. It made me wonder – How often is God poking, nudging, even shouting for us to hear, yet our hearts remain closed? “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart” (Hebrews 3:15). Lord, open my ears and my heart to truly hear You today. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Heb3v15
