Recently, I have really enjoyed immersing myself in the powerful experiences and divine moments that nature provides. All creation was brought into being by God’s spoken word, and I feel it is meant to communicate with us, drawing us closer to our Maker. When I visit the local reservoir, I take pleasure in watching the ducks gathering their chicks under their wings. It reminds me of our Father’s desire to gather His children under His protective care (Matthew 23:37). One time while sitting on our balcony, I noticed a dove flying above me, resembling a cross in flight. This evoked thoughts of Jesus’ baptism. In Matthew 3:16-17 it says that as Jesus was baptised, “heaven was opened, and John saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him” (Matthew 3:16). Despite the impending cross that Jesus would bear, the Father was with Him, offering encouragement and expressing His pleasure, assuring Jesus that He would ascend to heaven like a dove. During our challenging times, we should look to nature around us and God above and open our eyes to his real and active presence.
