Impossible

Impossible

Is your life feeling barren? Maybe you have lost your job or a loved one. Perhaps you have experienced a broken relationship, or your health is poor. You need a miracle, but it just seems impossible. Sarah, Abraham’s wife, was in the same position. She had always yearned for a child, but she was barren. And now, the dream of a child was impossible. She was well past the age of childbearing. At 90 years of age, her dream was quite simply impossible. And then an angel appeared and made a promise – Sarah would have a son. “Impossible”, she thought. But “impossible” is always the condition for a miracle. The angel’s reply to Sarah is the reply to all of us going through an impossible time in life. “Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” (Genesis 18:14). And she did have a son named Isaac. His name means laughter because she laughed at the impossibility of the promise. But impossible became real – real laughter, real joy. Leave your impossible problems, in faith, in God’s hands.
