After planting lavender bushes in our garden, we hoped they would grow into a natural border. Instead, they looked trampled and skewed to one side. We thought some creature was flattening them, but the truth was more interesting – they were growing sideways, reaching for the light. Because our garden is angled, the grass nearby gets more sunlight, so the lavender stretched toward it. The lesson is clear: stay in the light, for it sustains and guides us. We are called to live as children of light, growing in the truth and presence of the Lord. “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)” (Ephesians 5:8). What are you stretching toward – shadows that wither, or the light that gives life? (Jeremy G) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Eph5v8
