He will appear

He will appear

As Christians, we know the verses about Jesus’ return—“For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:27). “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven” (1 Thessalonians 4:16). The word most often used is parousia, meaning the arrival of someone who has been absent. This can make it feel like Jesus is far away and we are just waiting. But other Greek words—epiphaneia and phaneroō—are also used, and they mean “to appear” or “become visible.” Paul writes of “all who have longed for his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8), and John adds, “when Christ appears, we shall be like him” (1 John 3:2). These remind us that Jesus is not absent—he is alive, enthroned, and present with us now. We are simply waiting for him to be revealed to all. His return isn’t from afar—it’s a glorious unveiling. As Colossians 3:4 says, “When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” Open your eyes and see, Jesus is working now in your life. He will soon appear for all.
