When the Son sets

When the Son sets

We are driving in an open vehicle through Kruger Park. The sun is setting beneath the dusty horizon, leaving behind beautifully silhouetted trees—an iconic African scene. Yet as breathtaking as it is, I’m struck by something else: everything begins to lose its colour. Trees, animals, and plants all blur into shades of grey. Eventually, nothing is distinct or visible. It’s the same feeling we experience in life when the Son’s light begins to fade. Life can be beautiful and full of clarity, but when we slowly let our love for Jesus dim, everything becomes dull. Meaning blurs. Hope fades. Direction disappears. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12). If your life has lost its colour, if the way ahead feels grey and uncertain, invite Jesus back in. Let His light shine again and rediscover the vivid beauty and purpose only He can bring.
