There are those who like to sleep in complete silence, and then there are those, like my wife, who need the right balance of noise and a fan to fall asleep soundly. That’s why in South Africa when there are power outages there’s nothing that frightens her more than the prospect of a hot night with no sleep. This is why we keep a backup battery, so that we can run a fan all night. This backup battery is what gives us peace of mind no matter what happens. This got me thinking of what the backup battery for all of us is if the future looks scary. What is that thing that gives us peace of mind no matter what the night may have in store for us? Well mine is the verse John 10:10 in which Jesus states, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” This is my backup battery in life, knowing that no matter what happens my Lord and Saviour not only wants me to live life, but live it abundantly. I know that this abundant life may not always seem like it, but I also know that Jesus has prepared a plan for me to live in the way He deems best fit, and there is no greater peace of mind than that.
