He has not turned

He has not turned

Sometimes when people in our faith see the current state of the world, the phrase “See, God’s turned His back on us” gets brought up. This term suggests that because of all of man’s wickedness, God is punishing His creation and showing His wrath through real-life events. In Genesis 18, a discussion around this topic actually takes place between Abraham and God as He considers destroying Sodom and Gomorrah for their sins. Concerned for his nephew Lot, Abraham barters with God for the safety of the righteous in the city. This conversation climaxes in Genesis 18:32 when Abraham says, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?” God replies, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.” Even in the most wicked city, God’s mercy would prevail if just a few followed His ways. The same is true today. No matter how broken the world may seem, God does not turn His back on those who love Him. He still listens, still acts, still saves. And that is something we as believers can rejoice in, knowing that our faith matters not only for us, but for the world around us. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Gen18v22-32  (Jean-Luc H)
