The masterpiece

The masterpiece

Leonardo da Vinci worked on one of his greatest masterpieces, the Mona Lisa, for four years. The painting required time, patience, and attention to detail. Mistakes had to be corrected, and layers of paint were carefully applied. Every small detail needed perfection. Today, around 10 million people view this masterpiece annually, and its value is priceless. Did you know you were also created to be a masterpiece? Paul writes, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10). Becoming the person God created us to be takes time and care, shaped by God, the master craftsman. His Spirit moulds us, developing areas that need change and refining our character so that God’s nature shines through us. It is a lifelong process. “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand” (Isaiah 64:8). The result is a masterpiece through which God’s glory will shine, and others will glorify Him when they see His work in you. “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
