In South Africa’s informal settlements, you will find many mixed-breed dogs. Despite these dogs’ harsh outdoor conditions, they are robust and have few health issues. Often, they seem to thrive despite their challenging living conditions. These dogs show us that it’s not the comfort of our surroundings that determines our well-being but the strength and resilience we have within. The Bible teaches us that we can find joy and strength when we rely on God in the most challenging circumstances. As the Lord said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). So, no matter how hard our lives may get, we can still remain spiritually healthy, nourishing ourselves with what’s truly important – God’s word and teachings. “It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure” (2 Samuel 22:33). Regardless of what is happening in your life, know that our Lord will not only strengthen you, he will enable you to live abundantly. Make God your strength.
