“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:29)
It’s the big question posed by many religions – What work does God require of me? In answer to the question Jesus doesn’t give a list of good deeds we should do, rather he gives a simple answer – believe in Jesus. And that’s what makes all the difference. The greatest work is not the “what” we do it’s the “who” we believe in. The reason is that there is nothing we can do to earn God’s gift of eternal life. The gift has been given because of Jesus, and so our work is to believe – to believe in Jesus. And with that belief, the works will flow – not powered by us but powered by him.
