We are catching a shuttle from where we are staying in Cape Town to Table Mountain. The shuttle driver is really upbeat as he shares stories of his family and other achievements in life. On the return, we are picked up by a different driver who is gloomy. He complains about the traffic and parking at the pickup point and how things are getting worse. It made me wonder how two people doing the same job, driving the same route, can have such different outlooks on life. The one looks down and sees traffic and problems. The other looks up and sees blessings and thanks. We may not be able to change our circumstances, but we can change our attitude. As the saying goes – “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude”. Having an attitude of altitude means focusing on Godly things, not earthly things. “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:1-2). Whether you will fixate on the problems around you or the hope above you depends on who lives within you. Look up.
