In South Africa, we have had to learn to live with load shedding. This is where we have our power cut off several times a day to stop the national power grid from collapsing. No power means the inability to do everyday things like working and cooking or could mean spending several hours in darkness. Power today is essential for daily living. How much more should divine power be essential for our spiritual life? God asks us to live a life of love. To care for the needs of others. To abstain from evil. To love our enemies and be kind to those who despitefully use us. This is as impossible to do in our lives as it is to work without electricity. But, the good news is that spiritual loadhsedding isn’t something God does; it’s what we choose. God wants to fill you with His power to live a Godly life. It’s we who disconnect from his all-powerful divine grid. In 2 Peter 1:2-4, we read, “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” Today, every time you rely on power to turn on a light or a kettle or to charge your devices, think of your dependence on our Heavenly Father’s power to live a life filled with His divine nature.
