Sow for Eternal Returns

Sow for Eternal Returns

We are born with a natural desire to please ourselves – a baby cries for food, a toddler demands what it wants. Yet as we grow, we learn that a truly meaningful life isn't all about our own desires. The most unhappy people are often those who simply indulge themselves, which is ironic, because the need to love others is deeply encoded within us. It's the great command given thousands of years ago: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Matthew 22:37-39). Modern research keeps confirming that out of everything we could do to live a happy, healthy life, relationships matter most. God designed us – so of course he told us this clearly. But it doesn't end there. "Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." (Galatians 6:8). When we choose to invest in God and in others, we don't just find blessing now – we reap eternal life. What will you do today for God and others? (Craig B).
