I'm not that skilled at sports, but one thing I repeatedly need to remind myself is: keep your eye on the ball. Invariably, if I do this, I will play much better – until I forget again or get distracted by illusions of grandeur. The challenge is keeping focus despite everything else. It's not a difficult thing to remember, but somehow I forget. The same applies to life. We live in a world of many distractions – from social media and entertainment to the worries and fears that surround us. Repeatedly we are told to keep our focus on the Lord – "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith" (Hebrews 12:2). If we do this, everything changes. We are no longer distracted by our own grandeur or the worries and fears around us. Our aim and direction become clear. It's a single, simple change we can all make, but just like it has a huge impact in sport, it has a life-altering impact in life. "My eyes are ever on the Lord" (Psalms 25:15) – let this be your commitment today and every day. (Craig B). Open Bible – bit.ly/heb12v2, bit.ly/psa25v15
