Quality time – one of the five love languages- is vital to healthy relationships. It’s about giving someone your positive, undivided attention, engaging meaningfully without distractions. This takes sacrifice. I often forget this, especially with my wife and family, and then I get into trouble! But even more importantly, I forget it with my Heavenly Father. The world is full of distractions – our busy schedules, endless work, and pursuit of our own will often steal the quality time we owe to God. Yet He desires our full attention. God gets jealous when we don’t spend time with Him, because love thrives on connection. “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3). He longs for that relationship. “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in” (Revelation 3:20).
