20/20 vision is the rating for good eyesight. And so it would be silly to call someone 20/20 blind. Yet this was demonstrated recently to me. At our Bible class, a Whodunnit video was shown. It’s a short clip where the detective reveals who the murderer was. However, what the viewer doesn’t realise is that 21 changes take place in the scene – furniture and even people change, and most viewers miss them all. It shows how blind we truly are to things in plain sight. There is a story in the Bible about a man called Balaam who is determined to go on a mission that could make him rich if he curses Israel. However, an angel appears and stands in his way, but while his donkey sees the angel, Balaam is blind to seeing him. (Numbers 22:22-35). Well, what’s this got to do with me? Jesus has a question for you – “Having eyes, do you not see?” (Mark 8:18). What eternal and important things are you not seeing that are in plain sight? God’s angels are among us; God’s signs are everywhere. The world is changing, as God said it would before the end, but are we 20/20 blind or has faith opened our eyes?
