We often hear of top musicians, actors, models, sportsmen, and businessmen who seem to have it all, yet suffer deep depression or even die of overdose. King Solomon explained this long ago: “I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless, like chasing the wind” (Ecclesiastes 1:14). “All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the soul is not satisfied” (Ecclesiastes 6:7). Why does life feel empty without God? Solomon gives the answer: “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). God has placed eternity in every human heart – a desire to seek Him. If your life feels meaningless and empty, listen to Jesus: “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart’” (John 7:37-38). What your soul truly seeks is not more possessions or status, but the fullness of God.
