When guilt lifts

When guilt lifts

The Psalms are one of my favourite books of Scripture because they capture the raw honesty of the human heart. David’s Psalms remind me that faith is not the absence of struggle, but the place where struggle is brought before God. In Psalm 32, David speaks openly about the weight of unconfessed sin, something every one of us can relate to. Whether it is anger we justify, forgiveness we withhold, or pride we protect, hidden sin always costs us more than we expect. David describes this burden vividly: “When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away… My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat” (Psalm 32:3–4). Sin kept in the dark drains us spiritually, emotionally, and even physically. God’s loving discipline presses on our hearts, not to harm us, but to draw us back to Him. Then comes the turning point, the freedom of confession: “Finally, I confessed all my sins to you… And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone” (Psalm 32:5). What grace. God not only forgives our sin, but lifts the weight of guilt that holds us captive. God’s response is tender and reassuring: “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life… unfailing love surrounds those who trust the LORD” (Psalm 32:8–10). Confession restores our joy, realigns our steps, and places us once again inside God’s faithful, unfailing love. (Nicky B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Psa32v1-11
