One of the most amazing places to spend time is Kruger National Park in South Africa. The size and diversity of wildlife is truly astounding. However, the challenge in such a massive park, with over 2000 km of roads, is to spot the elusive cats – lions, leopards, and cheetahs. On one particular drive, we were scanning the surrounding grass plains, looking toward the horizon, hoping to spot something. After an hour of seeing nothing, we had accepted we wouldn’t spot anything today. And then suddenly, my wife shouted, “Cheetah!” And there, lying right on the edge of the road next to our car door, were two cheetahs. They were so close to the door that everyone else in the car, and even cars ahead of us, had missed them. Is this not how we often are in life? We are looking ahead to the issues and challenges in the distance but miss the wonder and power of God right next to us. “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18). While looking ahead, never forget to look near. Because God is near if we just open our eyes and see. Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Psa145v18
Too close to see!
