Studs on your shoes

Studs on your shoes

Where we live snow is not something you encounter very often. However, while recently visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park in winter, we encountered lots of snow. From a previous experience of snow in Europe we had purchased ice cleats, rubber harnesses that stretch over your shoes and have small metal studs on them. Thankfully we had brought these with us. The difference they made was amazing. While many people were slipping and sliding on the snowy paths, we could walk with confidence. The only difference was the small metal studs attached to our shoes. It’s a small unseen thing that makes a big difference. We are all walking life’s path, and there are times when it too is slippery. Yet, some seem to walk without slipping. The difference is the unseen foundation they walk on, faith and trust in God. We are encouraged to have our “feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace” (Ephesians 6:15). The quiet, unseen walking, living, and sharing God’s good news of peace. Doing this not only changes the lives of those around us, but it keeps us secure on life’s slippery paths, as God keeps us safe. “You enlarged my path under me, So my feet did not slip” (Psalms 18:36).
