Reflection

Reflection

Looking back. Another year. So swiftly it has passed. Memories. Joys. Achievements. Pain. Loss. Another chapter closed. And what do I see? I see my failures – but I see His grace. I see my achievements – but I see His kindness. I see my fears – but I see His peace. I see my happiness – but I see His joy. Looking back, we will always find a mixture of ups and downs, wins and losses. But more important than what we did or didn’t do is what Jesus has done for us. It’s easy to become fixated on our reflection, our successes, our failures, what we managed or missed. Yet we are called to change where we look. To change who we look at. “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). As you reflect on the year gone by, don’t get lost in your own story. Look instead at His. Think not about what you’ve done, but the wonder of what the Lord has done for you.
