It’s incredible to see how a desert can literally be turned into fruitful fields simply by channelling water from a nearby river. The Egyptians were masters of this, thousands of years ago. Today we see examples in the Middle East where entire cities flourish by channelling water to arid areas. “In the LORD’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.” (Proverbs 21:1). God is offering to channel water from the King, Jesus, to our arid lifeless lives. All around us the world is dying. It’s a harsh, lifeless desert with no hope. Without the water of life that Jesus is, we will never flourish (John 4:14). God is offering an incredible gift to all who please him. But, how do we please him? What must we do to earn this gift of life from him? There is nothing we can do. “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ” (Titus 3:5-7). All he requires from us is belief – faith that he can and will bring life and hope to our arid lives (Hebrews 11:6). Believe and witness God’s miracle transform your life.
