Recently, we planted trees hoping they would grow to provide shade and privacy. Though about 2 meters tall, they are far from their full potential. Carefully placed in their new soil homes, we followed instructions to help them settle. However, a day later, strong winds swept through the village. Despite being attached to thin poles, the relentless wind bent the trees, leaving them looking sad. We realized the solution was to anchor them to solidly grounded poles. Our lives are like these trees. We may aim to grow upright, but the winds of the world—the latest “insights,” “perspectives,” and “enlightened thinking”—blow us in every direction. Before we realize it, we’re bent by worry, frustration, and despair, no longer growing toward our Light. Paul warns, “be no longer infants…blown here and there by every wind of teaching” (Ephesians 4:14). To grow as God intended, we need a firm anchor—“No one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:11)—and to be securely attached to Him. “Continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith” (Colossians 2:6-7). Like this, we will grow tall. Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Eph4v14, https://bit.ly/1Co3v11, http://bit.ly/Col2v6-7
