Don’t look back!

Don’t look back!

It’s the plot twist of many a scary story. The person being told to walk out of the house or leave the car but not to look back. Invariably they do, and some horror lurks behind them. This story plot first happened thousands of years ago when Lot and his family were told by God to quickly leave Sodom and all the evil happening there. They were warned not to look back (Genesis 19:17), but “Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt” (Genesis 19:26). Jesus tells us she was looking back with longing for her possessions (Luke 17:31-32). While reflecting is useful in life, dwelling on the past or longing for the possessions we might have lost traps us there. It can cause us, like Lot’s wife, to become frozen with regret, shame, pain, and many other things. So, what should we do? Paul tells us – “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14). The prize that changes everything is ahead. Jesus is coming! Open Bible – https://bit.ly/phi3v14, https://bit.ly/gen19v17-26, https://bit.ly/luk17v31-32
