Packing life light

Packing life light

Recently we travelled overseas, but to save costs we took only carry-on luggage. This meant one small case and one backpack. The challenge was fitting in things for summer weather, including a mask and snorkel, and winter weather, including cleats for our boots and snow gear. Yet, with careful planning, we managed to pack everything we needed. Besides the cost saving, the true benefit of packing light is seen when you move through the airport. At security, people often have multiple bags and get flustered as items go into scanners and soon end up all over the place. For us it felt easy, simply because we had so little. It’s an important life lesson too. The more clutter we have, the more stressful life becomes, especially when things go wrong. All of a sudden we have more to worry about. Jesus puts it plainly, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” (Luke 12:15). The other time Jesus uses the words “life” and “abundance”, he tells us where we can have abundance: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10). Real abundance is found in Jesus, not in possessions. Travel with Jesus for the ultimate experience of abundance. (Craig B) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/luk12v15, https://bit.ly/joh10v10
