Almsgiving is often an overlooked term in what it means to live a life of God. My wife has a knack for reminding me of it whenever we drive out of any parking area. Whether it’s an overworked petrol attendant or an unofficial car guard, she always has something to give. Sometimes we don’t even have money, but she’ll walk into the nearest shop to buy them a simple drink or something to eat. This is the kind of life Jesus calls us to in Luke 11:41, where he states, “But now as for what is inside you – be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you”. This is at the root of the word “alms”, which translates to mercy. That is exactly what we should show to those less fortunate than us. As we move towards Easter, greet the Lord’s resurrection knowing that you tried to repay the mercy he showed us. Let us ‘clean’ ourselves now and always by giving wherever we can, just as our Lord Jesus gave himself for us. (Jean-Luc H) Open Bible – https://bit.ly/Luk11v41
