Someone recently told me how they were really busy preparing for a meeting. However, it didn’t matter how much they prepared; what they had to share was not good news. They could use whatever graphs, pictures, and stories they liked, but the bad news would still be bad. Isn’t this how life can also be? We can share happy photos on Instagram, wear a forced smile in public, joke and laugh with friends, yet despite this; life is not good news. We get sick. Worries gnaw at us. Loved ones die. We can use whatever smiles, photos, and stories we like, but bad news is still bad. A life that ends in death after a few short years cannot be dressed up as anything else. As Solomon says, “Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb, and as everyone comes, so they depart. They take nothing from their toil that they can carry in their hands.”(Ecclesiastes 5:15). However, there is good news, so “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11). Jesus is the good news who changes everything. No glossy pictures, fake stories, or forced smiles needed. Jesus offers an authentic, transforming, and eternal life, today.
