Believing in

Believing in

It’s the most well known Bible verse. It’s the easiest instruction to understand. Yet, it is the least followed. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). God is not asking us to just believe Jesus, but to believe in him. “We need to get rid of corruption to fix this country,” a politician says. I believe what the politician says but I don’t believe in him to do this. God’s incredible promise of eternal life is for those who believe in Jesus – in his power to change us, in his wisdom to guide us, in his love to save us. Today, spend time reading God’s Word. Listening to him. Believing him. And then, even if it is difficult or confusing, believe in him and do what he says. Believing God requires us to surrender our minds to him. Believing in God requires us to surrender our lives to him. And the reward – eternal life, given in love.
