“Many years ago, my brother started running on his farm,” my neighbour told me. “His workers decided to join him. Soon, they were all running marathons. Recently, I asked him why he had stopped while his workers continued to run marathons. He replied, ‘I’m the boss and I have runners’”. While this is a funny reply, unfortunately we can’t benefit from other people’s fitness. Our health is our concern. The same applies to our spiritual health. “Each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” (Romans 14:12). We must each individually work out our salvation (Philippians 2:12). However, while we might conquer a marathon, we cannot conquer our sin. But, God has given us a “runner”. One who did what we never could. “Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin” (1 Corinthians 1:30). And so “let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honour beside God’s throne” (Hebrews 12:1-2). Run knowing he will carry you over the finish! Open Bible – https://bit.ly/1Co1v30, http://bit.ly/Rom14v12, http://bit.ly/Phi2v12, http://bit.ly/Heb12v1-2
