It’s not an option

It’s not an option

One thing that is abundantly clear in the Christian gospel is that we are called to live a life of faith. This is not faith the noun, like “I am in the faith”, but faith the verb: action. It’s a call to live when the evidence may not be obvious. Hebrews 11:1 says that “faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” The chapter then lists action words connected to faith – Abel brought, Noah built, Abraham offered, Isaac blessed. And this is the same type of faith we are called to live in. I was struck recently by how direct Paul was when he wrote, “Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because ‘the righteous will live by faith’” (Galatians 3:11). It’s not a suggestion. “The righteous will live by faith” is a command because “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). Every day brings uncertainty – the unseen, the unknown. Whatever you are facing, know that God is already in the details. All He requires from us is to live by faith.
