Imitating Dad

Imitating Dad

As I have continued the relentless ageing march, I have noticed something. I am becoming more and more like my dad. I will joke with cashiers or petrol attendants and suddenly think, “That’s just like dad used to do”. And just like dad was for us as kids, it’s often to the embarrassment of my children. However, I consider it a blessing to imitate him in any small way, as he was an incredible example of God’s love. However, it made me wonder if people would notice if I were becoming more like my Heavenly Father. Surely, this should be our greatest aspiration. “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” (Ephesians 5:1-2). Who do you imitate? Celebrities? Social media influencers? Friends? As you go through your day, seek out opportunities to imitate God. Bring God’s love and, joy and peace to those you meet. You may be the only experience of God that someone has today.
