Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes was a gift the Jewish leaders couldn’t accept. This humble birth was not how they expected their King and Messiah to arrive. Yet He became a gift to many, changing lives and Israel’s history. Jesus wrapped in grave clothes was a gift the world couldn’t accept. This degrading death was not how they expected a King and Messiah to end. Yet He became a gift to many, changing lives and the world’s history. Just because we misunderstand the wrapping doesn’t mean we should miss the gift. Are we wrapping the King of the world in our own wrappings, of pride, division, self, and greed? Our King comes wrapped in love and grace, offering eternal life. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Let us be careful not to cause others to reject the gift because of our wrapping. “I know no creed but Christ, no law but love, and no book but the Bible” (W Branham).
