When you think of your three closest friends, who comes to mind? Maybe someone you have known for years, someone who shares your interests, or someone who always has your back. But did you think of Jesus? Imagine a friend you can talk to 24/7, a friend who can help with any problem, who saves you and gives eternal life. We cherish earthly friendships – they support us, but being human they can only do so much. One of my favourite songs we sing in church is “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear. What a privilege to carry, Everything to God in prayer”. How beautiful to know Jesus is that friend: always ready to listen, to comfort, to save, and who will never leave or forsake us. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
