Bridge over troubled water

Bridge over troubled water

Hiking in the Drakensberg during late summer brings many challenges, especially when swollen rivers block the path. Some torrents are too strong to cross, forcing a retreat, while others require courage to wade through, knowing a single misstep could be disastrous. But the best sight of all is a sturdy bridge—proof that someone has gone before to make a way. This mirrors our spiritual journey. Jesus has already crossed the darkest valleys, even the shadow of death, to prepare a path for us. We don’t have to retreat in fear or struggle through life’s raging currents alone. He is our bridge, our safe passage. Instead of turning back or facing the rapids alone, lift your eyes and trust Him to lead you through. As Isaiah 43:16 reminds us: “Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters.” Trust in Him—He will guide you safely.
