I have recently been reminded of the incredible power of words. Simple spoken or written words create things. We have been involved in building and I have watched as my wife has sent emails, made phone calls and chatted to a host of different people. And the result of this—an entire house. She, and neither me with my zero building skills, ever picked up a single tool. Yet an entire house appeared just as a result of words. Words have incredible power. They can not only craft a vision, they can create it too. Our universe came into existence by God’s words. “By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s word, what we see created by what we don’t see” (Hebrews 11:3). But even more astounding is when God’s words became a perfect representation of himself. “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). Now that same powerful, creating word is spoken into our lives. As Jesus said—“The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life” (John 6:63). What will you let God create through you?
