“Grandpa,” the boy murmured, watching a man slide into a sleek, expensive car while they rattled along in their old one. “It’s not fair.” “What’s not fair?” Grandpa asked. “That man has everything—money, comfort, a fancy car. And you have so little.” Grandpa chuckled. “You’re right, it’s not fair. I feel sorry for him. God must love me so much.” The boy frowned. “No, Grandpa, that’s not what I meant.” “Oh, I know,” Grandpa said, “but think about it. It is unfair—for him. God loves me enough to take things away, to shape me. But that man? Maybe God hasn’t taken anything from him because He isn’t his Father.” The boy’s brow furrowed. Grandpa leaned closer. “Remember when I took your ball away because you weren’t sharing? Not to be mean, but to teach you. That’s how God works. The Bible says, ‘The LORD disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child’ (Hebrews 12:6). I’m not perfect, so God corrects me—out of love. But if that man hasn’t been accepted as God’s child, he may never experience His loving discipline. And so you’re right – that’s unfair” Open Bible – http://bit.ly/Heb12v6 (Craig B)
