Have you ever seen a mime actor who walks behind someone and imitates them? If they stop and turn, he does the same. If they wave, he waves. It’s really funny and sometimes a little embarrassing for the person being imitated. In life, we are all like mime actors, whether we realise it or not. We all imitate others. It may be in the way we speak – our phrases, slang or pronunciation. Or maybe it is the way we dress that we think is unique but is actually just imitating others. We normally imitate those we admire or want to associate with. However, imitation doesn’t just mean we look like those we are copying; soon, we begin to behave like them, too. John warns us to be careful about who we imitate. “Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God” (3 John 1:11). There is only one we should imitate, and that is God. And if we want to see who we imitate, take a moment to see what you speak about, what you chase after, what you think about. Is it God? Open Bible – https://bit.ly/3Jo1v11
